As you move from A to Z in alphabetical order, one is sure to come across several authors - some of them lasting the distance, impressing one and all in their journey (or in the process of doing so) , and rest who left the scene as soon as they entered it, as is the case with almost everything in life..the downside and its complementary. Some notably good ones, ones that you would find ease are, Archer, Reilly, Christie,Dan Brown .....and not to forget J.K.Rowling . I will quickly add that this is a personal opinion and for obvious reasons I expect some of them not to agree with my pick, though I must say that the few I have mentioned are more than world famous.
Starting with Matthew Reilly, I begin to wonder if he ever wrote his novels while traveling in a supersonic jet or something .. for his novels are so very fast paced. Surely his characters have got more stamina that an Olympic gold medalist in the longest of the running races, Shane Schofield in particular.Ice Station and Area 7 are two of his best (as of now ..he is still very much alive and kicking , so I'm sure he'll have more of those journeys in the jets).
Great works by the author: Ice Station,Area 7,Scarecrow ....
Moving over to Agatha Christie, it is whole new world of crime solving that she introduces you to.. Hercule Poirot , the detective character doesn't go about carrying MP5's or shotguns or any of those modern day 'things' that could draw the curtains on anybody in an instant. Instead he goes about as calmly as possible investigating every single so called suspect;and out he comes with the truth. I assure you it isn't as simple and lifeless as I made it sound. On the contrary it is riveting to the core.No wonder she is called the Queen of Crime Fiction.
Great works by the author:Hercule Poirot's Christmas ,The Murder of Roger Ackroyd,Lord Edgware dies,Mrs Mcginty's Dead ....
Dan Brown, with just 4 books to his credit, has more than made a mark for himself. No words suffice to describe how good he is.
Impressive authors:Micheal Crichton,Micheal Connelly,Robin Cook(medicine related),Clive Cussler,David Baldacci,Craig Thomas(combining CIA,SAS,FBI),G F Newmann (good old Scotland Yard),Sidney Sheldon,Paulo Coelho and a few others.
I've left many authors high and dry, for if I continue further, I m not so sure many would continue reading ...as it would simply look like I am stating some facts. So having given a taste of what it is in the world of novels, I would like to conclude the first blog of mine by thanking you all for reading.
